Committee members maligned in audit are heroes, Carlesimo says

Submitted by Jim Ilkay on Wed, 2009-12-23 02:13

In an article that ran in today's Windsor Star, three city councillors who broke the City of Windsor's procurement rules justified their actions by citing savings to taxpayers. According to former city councillor Peter Carlesimo "We saved council and taxpayers $2.3 million; that's courage to me." I doubt we would have a lot of tolerance for police officers dealing with suspects on the spot to avoid a costly trial, so should we accept the argument that the ends justify the means in this case? An interesting twist - the councillors may have been influenced by financial losses suffered by the City in the MFP scandal.

Indeed, I agree. maybe a posted update regarding the topic would be a great idea. More so, citing saving amongst taxpayer is a good news, for many consumers, saving cash is easier said than done. Quite possibly if you're earning more money now than you did a couple years ago, you might nevertheless find yourself short of money or buried deep in debt. So you can't put the blame of your saving shortfalls on a measly paycheck. In fact, studies have shown that it has very little to do with your income. It's simply about your desire to save money and just how eager you are to make changes in order to improve your bottom-line.
